Why should I call before excavation?
- Underground services are present almost everywhere.
- Damaging them can cause great disruption to utility services and repair can be costly and time consuming to the Excavator.
Are underground network services installed in a straight line?
- Not always. Many services have bends, loops, offsets and laterals. The depth of services can also vary greatly.
- UNDERGROUND SERVICE LOCATORS can indicate whether the cable/pipe is shallow or deep but for legal reasons we are unable to state the exact depth of the cable/pipe.
How does the location service work?
- We source plans of the underground services.
- Using specialised location equipment we locate the services.
- The location of the service is then marked on the ground.
- If required we can also record the position of the services on the appropriate drawings. (Additional costs apply).
Why should individuals or companies planning to excavate have to pay for the cost of locating underground services?
- The location of underground services on any site needs to be carefully considered during the planning stages of every project, and should be costed in as part of the project.
- The time and effort spent avoiding just one instance of damage could save contractors thousands of dollars, and avoid isolating possibly thousands of people from access to vital services.
How much does the location service cost?
- Generally a locate starts from $99 - $126 plus GST in the metro areas, and includes up to 30 minutes of locating work on site.
